Fairalls – Fair to All

Fairalls (Builders Merchant) Limited, located in Godstone, Surrey has been supplying quality building materials for over 100 years. A family run business with traditional values, Fairalls prides itself on customer service, which of course includes the ‘access for everybody’ ethos. Various ramps have been installed and alterations made at both sites to ensure access for the less able. The largest hurdle to be overcome, however, was access to the mezzanine level (which provides access to goods and a cafeteria) at the High Street store. Level Access Lifts were asked to provide a lift which would sit just inside the main entrance which had to;

The solution; a Level Access Lyndhurst (EU) lift finished in green to match the internal steelwork. As standard this lift comes with; visual indicators both in the lift and at the landings, voice annunciation, arrival chime and tactile buttons. It was also fitted with glass in the structure to allow the user a panoramic view of the store during travel.

When asked if the lift is often used, Donna Bateman of Fairalls commented; “You bet it is! To be honest, we got used to having the lift very quickly, now I don’t know what how we would do without it. We hardly new that Level Access Lifts were here. They carried out their survey and after what seemed like only a few weeks later the lift installation was complete. It has worked faultlessly ever since. Looking around the store now, it seems like the lift has always been there”.
