Every lift has to be pushed or pulled upwards somehow. In the same way that road cars have different ways of producing forward motion (i.e. front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, four wheel drive etc), Platform Lifts also have many different drive methods for producing vertical movement, including Hydraulic, Screw & Nut, Traction and Chain drives.
